Luis “Pantera” Guerrero will make his Karate Combat debut when he battles fellow Muay Thai and MMA veteran Boynazarov of Uzbekistan. Guerrero is also an unbeaten professional boxer.
Undefeated professional boxer and Muay Thai fighter veteran Luis “Pantera” Guerrero (0-0 Karate Combat, 12-5 MMA) will step into “The Pit” for the first time in his career, and face fellow Muay Thai star Anvar Boynazarov (1-0 Karate Combat, 5-4 MMA) at Karate Combat at Stockyards Event Center in Denver, Colo. on Friday, Feb. 28, Fajador has learned.
The bout will be contested at a catchweight of 140 pounds/64 kilograms.
Fighting out of Tultepec, Estado de Mexico, Mexico, the 36-year-old Guerrero is a natural striker with a perfect Muay Thai record of 29-0 and an unblemished professional boxing record of 12-0.
Guerrero’s last fight, an MMA bout last October 24, saw him defeat Colombia’s Juan Pablo Mendoza via unanimous decision.
Also 36 years of age, Boynazarov hails from Uzbekistan and fights out of Phuket, Thailand where he hones his striking skills that have helped him amass an astounding Muay Thai record of 95-28-2, with 53 of the wins produced by knockout.
Boynazarov is coming off his first Karate Combat victory, a first round (1:22) knockout of Ignacio Capllonch of Argentina on January 25.
In previously announced action on the card, reigning champion Arturo Vergara (5-0 Karate Combat, 3-2 MMA) of Chile will defend his 135-pound/61-kilogram title against Jesús Lopez (2-3 Karate Combat).
