It’s a big fight weekend but out there in Queens, Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda is about to make one of these boxers a household name. A clash between the defensive master and the relentless slugger is just days away.
Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda
Shakur Stevenson (23–0, 11 KOs) enters this bout as the WBC lightweight champion. He’s known for his elite footwork, counter-punching, and ring IQ—earning him comparisons to legends like Mayweather and Leonard. Stevenson insists he has “100 different things” ready for Zepeda.
On the opposite side stands William Zepeda (33–0, 27 KOs), a knockout artist who bulldozes forward with immense power and volume. Zepeda boasts wins over Tevin Farmer and declares himself “hungry” for a title.
Styles collide: Stevenson’s precise movement and jab aim to neutralize Zepeda’s pressure, while Zepeda’s power and aggression threaten to overwhelm. Analysts highlight Stevenson’s body attack and evasive defense as keys to victory. Yet, Zepeda’s brutality in the ring can’t be ignored.
I don’t usually do this but when I wrote this Stevenson enters as a massive favorite (–1200), but Zepeda’s 82% knockout ratio keeps suspense alive. With reputations and titles on the line, New York’s Louis Armstrong Stadium might need a new roof after this weekend.
