Countdown Begins for Martial Arts Marathon in Puertollano
Puertollano, Spain is officially on the clock. The city has launched its ambitious bid to break the Guinness World Record for 25 hours of nonstop martial arts practice.
The weekend-long event, “Marcial Xtreme,” began with a spirited welcome from Mayor Miguel Ángel Ruiz and Sports Councilor Javier Trujillo. They thanked the visionary behind the event—Paqui Moreno—for her dedication, drive, and dream of seeing her hometown lead such a monumental effort.
Held at the Antonio Rivilla Pavilion, the challenge has gathered over 100 martial artists from across Spain. Together, they aim to prove that endurance, tradition, and community spirit can achieve something extraordinary.
Unifying Martial Arts Disciplines Under One Roof
Participants are rotating across multiple tatamis in an effort to unite diverse martial arts styles. These include judo, karate, aikido, kendo, jiu-jitsu, and self-defense techniques.
In addition to physical training, the schedule features guided meditations, collaborative workshops, debates, and roundtables. The event is supported by the Municipal Sports Board, adding further credibility to the project.
Knowledge From the Best in the Game
Backed by the Castilla-La Mancha Judo Federation, the weekend also doubles as a powerful learning experience. Over 20 experts are offering hands-on training and in-depth presentations.
For example, Ramón Castellanos Parra covers judo techniques like locks, throws, and strikes. Marcos Bermúdez Román teaches female self-defense with insights into how attackers think. Luis Nogueira Serrano explains how aikido can be integrated into judo’s Kodokan system. Meanwhile, other professionals dive into topics like military ground control, combat psychology, legal issues, and biomechanics.
Furthermore, experts such as Juan Pozuelo Rubio and Roberto Ruiz Varquín explore real-world defense applications and mental toughness in combat athletes.
A Cultural Movement in Motion
This is more than a record attempt—it’s a celebration. It honors discipline, diversity, and the future of martial arts in Spain. Whether or not the record falls, Puertollano has already won by creating a national moment of unity.
