I wouldn’t stand a chance!
Sandor Martin doesn’t mince words. In a bold interview that is shaking up the combat sports world, the Spanish boxing star claimed that UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria“Wouldn’t stand a chance!” in a professional boxing match.
He made this statement during his participation in MMA WITHOUT LIMITS. There he explained why the octagon champion would not survive under the bright lights of a traditional boxing ring.
Boxing vs. MMA: Two Completely Different Worlds
Ilia Topuria’s knockout power has outclassed great UFC fighters such as Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. However, according to Martin, that style simply doesn’t suit pure boxing.
“If Ilia takes me to the ground, he destroys me,” Martin admitted. “But boxing is another movie entirely.”
In addition, he described Topuria’s punching style as effective in MMA, but too basic for a boxing-only fight.
“His boxing is very good for MMA, but in boxing it’s more vulgar, more conventional,” he added.
Mutual Respect-But Not Backing Down
Despite the criticism, Martin made it clear that he respects Topuria’s achievements. He even acknowledged that he has already achieved something Martin has not yet accomplished: becoming a champion on U.S. soil.
“Ilia has done what I haven’t done-he’s gone to the U.S. twice and come back a champion. That’s admirable,” Martin said.
However, he remains convinced that in the boxing ring, he has the advantage.
What’s Next for These Combat Titans?
The battle between boxing and MMA is heating up again. With Martin’s latest comments, fans are already talking about a possible crossover fight.
Whether it happens or not, one thing is clear: the rivalry between traditional boxing and mixed martial arts continues to ignite a spark in the world of combat sports.rciales mixtas continues to ignite a spark in the world of combat sports.
