Mexico and Boxing Make History with National Boxing Class
In a historic moment for Mexican sports, the largest national boxing class in history took place, uniting the Mexican government, the World Boxing Council(WBC) and the country’s boxing legends. Held in the heart of Mexico City, in the Zócalo, this historic event was a powerful show of unity and pride. It was broadcast simultaneously in all 32 states of Mexico, marking a significant milestone for the sport. Mexico and Boxing Make History with the National Boxing Class, an event that transcends sport and conveys a message of peace, education and cultural pride.
A Message of Unity, Peace and Prosperity
President Claudia Sheinbaum, together with WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, launched the National Boxing Class, conveying a powerful message to the world. “This event shows that Mexico is a country of unity, solidarity and peace,” she declared. This event was not only about boxing, but about promoting a culture of education, sports and harmony.
Thousands of participants, from children to adults, gathered in a show of commitment to Mexico’s values. The class symbolized the country’s ongoing struggle against violence and the promotion of positive social values. “Young Mexicans say no to violence, no to addictions, and yes to sports, peace and love,” proclaimed President Sheinbaum.

The National Boxing Class was also a celebration of excellence in boxing. Mexican champions such as Kenia Enriquez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar de la Hoya and Marco Antonio Barrera joined the event, making it a truly immersive experience. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman called the event a “dream come true.” He stressed, “Mexico is the heart and soul of boxing.” For him, the National Boxing Class was not only about the sport, but about creating a healthier and more peaceful society for all.
