Jorge Masvidal
Jorge Masvidal could be close to returning to the UFC; the former BMF champion has not seen action since 2023, when he lost to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. In recent months, rumors of a return to face Conor McGregor have gained strong momentum.
During an appearance on the Deathrow MMA podcast, Masvidal confirmed that he received a proposal to be part of the first MVP MMA fight card in partnership with Netflix, but he decided not to accept the offer.
According to the Cuban fighter, the UFC presented a more strategic plan for his return, which puts him in a more favorable position.
Passing on Netflix
“I was offered to fight on that card. I received a very good offer from Netflix, but the UFC had other plans for me. I was speaking with Nakisa Bidarian. I get along very well with Nakisa; I appreciate him thinking of me and reaching out, but it just didn’t come together.”
I had the first offer before they gave it to Nate Diaz. It was for me, I really wanted to take the fight, but the UFC has a better plan for me, they explained it to me. It convinced me and now we’re going to move forward.
This past January, in an interview with TMZ Sports, Dana White was direct and to the point about the rumors of a supposed bout between Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor at UFC White House, where he ruled out any possibility of it.
But, with MVP and Netflix offering lucrative deals to big names in the sport, ‘never say never’ rings truer than ever.
