Merab Dvalishvili
Merab Dvalishvili already has the next step of his career in mind. The former UFC bantamweight champion lost his belt to Petr Yan following an intense battle at UFC 323 last December.
In an interview with TNT Sports, Dvalishvili confirmed that he is ready to return to the octagon between July and August, seeking to secure a trilogy fight with Petr Yan that could take place during International Fight Week
July or August Return
“I’m really coming back in July, August at the latest. Petr said he is already doing well and is ready to fight in June. We know there are other major events in June, so we aren’t going to fight during that period. After that, in July or August, whenever the UFC needs it, I’ll be ready, and Petr said he will be too.”
“It would be a dream to fight during International Fight Week and yes, a trilogy. Because we are tied one-to-one. I beat him three years ago, he beat me in December, so we will have a great fight. I am motivated,” Dvalishvili concluded.
Dvalishvili has a 21-5 record in his MMA career. In addition to that, the Georgian is ranked number one in the bantamweight division and eighth in the organization’s pound-for-pound rankings.
