WWE Crown Jewel 2026
WWE Crown Jewel 2026 might be in serious trouble. The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia just put out an urgent security warning following reported missile strikes at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
The premium live event is supposed to happen in just four weeks on Saturday, November 7, at Riyadh Season Stadium. It’s a tight timeline for such a complex situation. As of October 10, WWE hasn’t said a word about changing the date or moving the show.
A Shocking Attack on Riyadh’s Airport
Things escalated quickly over the weekend. The Associated Press reported that a missile actually struck a passenger terminal at the airport on Saturday, forcing an immediate evacuation of the whole building.
Euronews backed this up, citing a hospital source in Riyadh who noted dozens of people were injured, mostly Saudi nationals. The chaos forced inbound flights to be completely canceled or diverted elsewhere.
Tragically, this wasn’t even the first strike this week. Saturday’s attack followed a similar incident at the same airport just two days prior, which reportedly killed three Saudi citizens, including a Saudia airline pilot. Houthi forces have claimed responsibility for both, calling them retaliation for Saudi military operations.
U.S. Embassy Issues Urgent Security Warnings
Naturally, the U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia didn’t wait around to issue an alert. On Saturday, they strongly advised Americans to stay far away from the airport and the surrounding neighborhoods.
It’s gotten so serious that U.S. government employees there now need special permission just to use the airport. The embassy is warning travelers to brace for canceled flights, closed airspace, and massive travel headaches. Right now, the U.S. State Department has Saudi Arabia under a Level 3 travel advisory, basically telling Americans they should seriously reconsider going.
Is WWE Crown Jewel Still Happening?
Behind the scenes, people were already talking about this before Saturday’s attack even happened. Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly mentioned that the fate of Crown Jewel was becoming a massive topic of conversation backstage.
WrestleVotes Radio also noted that WWE staff who usually make the trip were asking management if the show might get moved or delayed.
WWE President Nick Khan actually talked about safety concerns earlier this year. Before Night of Champions, Khan flat-out said, “We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there.” He promised that if the U.S. government says it’s safe for citizens, WWE will go. He said that months ago, but it perfectly sums up how WWE handles international security.
For now, the show goes on. Two huge matches are locked in: World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns takes on Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn, and Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer faces WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green. Tickets literally just went on sale on October 2.
Millions of Dollars on the Line for WWE
WWE has a lot riding on this. They kicked off a highly lucrative 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia back in 2018 and expanded it a year later to guarantee two massive shows annually through 2027.
According to Wrestlenomics, WWE pockets around $50 million every time they run a Saudi event. They had already made roughly $600 million from these shows by mid-2025.
When the pandemic forced WWE to skip their 2020 and 2021 shows, they just tacked the missed events onto the end of the contract. But navigating a sudden cancellation because of a regional conflict is entirely uncharted territory.
What About WrestleMania 43?
The ripple effects here could be massive, especially with WrestleMania 43 scheduled for Saudi Arabia in April 2027. It’s slated to be the first WrestleMania ever held outside North America.
Nick Khan recently let slip that WWE already has creative plans in motion for the historic show. WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett even guessed that the company probably built contingency plans into the contract from day one, just in case something like this happened.
Right now, the wrestling world is holding its breath. With the airport under threat and travel basically upended, everyone is waiting to see what WWE does next.
