Sin Cara
A surprise Sin Cara WWE return might actually be on the cards. When Paul Levesque made Mexican phenomenon Mistico his first big talent signing back in 2011, expectations were sky-high. Instead, the masked star debuted right after WrestleMania 27 and became famous for all the wrong reasons, mostly due to botched moves and awkward lighting.WWE finally shelved the character in 2019, yet new reports from PWInsider claim the company is talking about bringing the mask back from the dead.
Two Men, One Complicated History
Mistico’s run derailed fast after a wellness policy violation. That opened the door for Hunico to step in as an evil imposter, kicking off a rivalry that ended in a mask-versus-mask match. Hunico lost, shed the hood, and spent two years teaming with Camacho—whom fans now know as Tonga Loa. Once the original Mistico left WWE for good, Hunico slipped the mask back on and found real traction alongside Kalisto as the Lucha Dragons. When WWE cut Hunico in December 2019, everyone assumed the gimmick was buried with him.
Borrowing a Page from Lucha Libre
Things changed when WWE bought Lucha Libre AAA in April 2025. Even though AAA still runs as its own promotion, main roster stars drop in all the time. Passing a legendary mask down to a younger wrestler is a staple of Mexican wrestling—just look at the current La Parka, who now works under the WWE umbrella through AAA. Turning the Sin Cara WWE return into a generational legacy role makes a lot of sense now that WWE owns a piece of lucha history.
Who Steps Under the Hood?
False Finish reports that WWE has its eyes on Myzteziz Jr., who has popped up a few times in AAA since the buyout.Still, the rumor mill points toward a much cooler option. Dralistico is nearing the end of his AEW deal, and word is he could jump ship. Years ago in CMLL, Dralistico actually took over the Mistico gimmick when the original left for America. Having him inherit this WWE mask too would be a wild piece of wrestling symmetry.
