Alex Pereira
In preparation to face Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of UFC White House, Alex Pereira will have the opportunity to make history in the world’s largest MMA organization. After years of dominating the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, the Brazilian hasn’t stopped dreaming about the possibility of facing Jon Jones in the not-too-distant future.
In an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show this Monday afternoon, the Brazilian said he will seek the opportunity to face Jones in the Octagon if he defeats Gane and becomes the first three-division champion in UFC history.
“I believe it can happen because he needs to be released from the UFC, and I don’t think the UFC will end his contract that quickly. So if he wants to fight, who is it going to be against? Me,” he argued.
“I think so. When I win my next fight, or else it wouldn’t make much sense. But if I win that fight, it makes sense.”
Retired as a fighter, Jones returned after the announcement of the UFC White House card. Despite having declared several times the intention to face the Brazilian striker, Dana White maintained his decision to keep him off the card. In his last fight, ‘Bones’ knocked out Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309, defending the heavyweight belt for the first and only time.
