Anderson Silva
Combat sports legend Anderson Silva spoke about the final steps of his career.
The former UFC middleweight champion explained why he did not accept a return to MMA for an event broadcast on Netflix, and he was candid about the number of pending commitments he has left before hanging up his gloves.
In an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, Anderson explained that he is focused on the process of becoming a police officer and, for that reason, he does not intend to take on any MMA commitments.
Despite ruling out a return to mixed martial arts, the Brazilian indicated that he still intends to step into the ring a couple of times before ending his career. “Spider” believes he could have one or two more boxing matches before announcing his retirement from combat sports.
“Nakisa invited me to fight MMA or kickboxing, but since I am in this process (of becoming a police officer), I just said: ‘I can’t do it this time.’ I still have one or two fights ahead of me, but only in boxing. I no longer have the mindset to train for MMA, it is too hard for me,” said Anderson Silva in an interview.
Anderson Silva’s last fight was in boxing, this past December 19th. The former UFC middleweight champion defeated former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley by TKO in the second round.
At the moment, his next boxing challenge is undetermined, but he admitted that he intends to return to the ring soon.
