Puerto Rican Boxing Pioneer Turns Professional
Ashleyann Lozadathe first Puerto Rican to compete in the Olympic Games, is ready to take the next step in her career. The 33-year-old boxer officially signed on with Mark Taffet Mediathe agency run by renowned boxing manager Mark Taffet, who has been a strong advocate of women’s boxing.
From Olympic Dreams To Professional Goals
Lozada advances to the professional ranks after an outstanding amateur career. Won bronze medal at the Pan American Games in 2023which secured him a place in the 2024 Paris Paris 2024 Olympic Games.. Although she was eliminated in the quarterfinals, her performance at the Games consolidated her as a promising boxer. In addition, Lozada won back-to-back gold medals at the 2018 and 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, consolidating her name in the featherweight division.
A Strategic Partnership with Taffet
Now, under Taffet’s tutelage, Lozada joins a roster of elite boxers, including Olympic Champion Claressa Shields. Taffet, renowned for his success in training champions, gives Lozada the support he needs to succeed in professional boxing.
A Challenging Start in Corozal
Lozada grew up in Corozal, Puerto Rico, facing various difficulties. She began boxing at the suggestion of her mother, who encouraged her to channel her energy into the sport. At first she trained in her backyard, but then the family got local support to gain access to a gym. After a break of several years due to financial difficulties, she returned to boxing in 2017 and quickly excelled in international competitions.
