Chihuahua has secured the top spot in Mexican amateur MMA, winning the National Team Championship at the 2025 “Equidad y Juego Limpio” Mixed Martial Arts National Tournament. This year’s tournament brought together more than 1,000 athletes from 25 states across Mexico, making it one of the most competitive editions to date. For the first time, the event moved away from its traditional home in Monterrey. Instead, it took place in Ciudad Juárez, where the Colegio de Bachilleres Gymnasium became a stage for skill, grit, and sportsmanship.
10th Planet Chihuahua Shines in the Spotlight
Significantly, one of the main contributors to Chihuahua’s triumph was 10th Planet Chihuahua, led by coach Mauricio Ramírez. Representing the state capital, the team showcased exceptional discipline and preparation. As a result, their performance inside the cage stood out from start to finish.
The academy presented 12 fighters—10 in official bouts and two in exhibition matches. Impressively, they achieved 19 wins and only one loss in official fights. In addition, both exhibition matches ended in victory.
Medal Haul Dominates the Podium
In terms of medals, 10th Planet Chihuahua earned 11 golds and one silver. Among advanced-level fighters, seven secured gold. Furthermore, one fighter claimed gold in the intermediate category. In the beginner division, the team captured three golds and one silver.
The 2025 national champions were Samantha Martínez, Evelin Martínez, Sofía Ortiz, Wendy Lara, Santiago Lomas, Manuel Sánchez, Iker Armendáriz, Kevin Hernández, Alan Muñoz, Cristian Hernández, and Luis Rodríguez—all gold medalists. Meanwhile, Francisco Durán took the silver.
