Christian “El Guayaba” Camargo
Under the intense training of coach Norberto “Pimpón” Rodríguez, 28-year-old Celaya native Christian David Camargo Pérez is gearing up for the biggest moment of his martial arts journey—his professional MMA debut. Known as “El Guayaba,” Camargo represents the Osos MMA Academy, where he has developed a fierce and technical style rooted in Russian Sambo. With years of amateur experience in Celaya and neighboring cities, his focus is sharper than ever as he waits for his shot under the lights.
From Karate to MMA: A Journey of Discipline and Grit
Camargo’s path began at just 12 years old with Kempo Karate, where he learned discipline and fearlessness. At 16, he transitioned to Kickboxing, refining his striking and mental strength. By 22, his passion evolved into Mixed Martial Arts, drawn by the sport’s completeness and constant adrenaline. “In MMA, there’s no room for mistakes. You need to stay alert, fast, and sharp every second,” he says.
Lessons from the Cage and the Heart
Reflecting on his early fights, Christian recalls his first bout as one of his most emotional moments—surrounded by family and friends cheering from the crowd. But the road hasn’t been without challenges. “If you don’t win by knockout, sometimes the judges don’t see it your way,” he admits. Still, he keeps his spirit high and continues to evolve with every round.
Preparing for His Moment to Shine
Christian’s most memorable competition came in Salamanca’s “Encuentro de Leyendas”, where he fought for the Kickboxing National Championship at 60–62 kg. Today, with experience across Mexico—in CDMX, Michoacán, Aguascalientes, and Celaya—he feels more prepared than ever to turn professional.
“I’m ready for what’s next,” he affirms. “To the new generation—never quit, stay disciplined, and always give your best. Someone out there is watching and being inspired.”
