Five Veracruzanos to the World Youth MMA Championship
Tuxpan, Veracruz, June 6, 2025.- An unprecedented event marks the history of MMA in Veracruz: five young athletes have been called to represent Mexico in the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championship to be held from July 20 to 27 in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. The Veracruz team that will make history
The president of the Gulf Mixed Martial Arts Association and vice president of the Mexican MMA Federation, Professor Agustin Guzman Arellano, enthusiastically confirmed the participation of these five talents:
- José Martín Morales Vera
- Sergio Esteban Guzmán Becerra
- Jana Camila Ocadio Martínez
- José Gabriel Rodríguez Carmona
- Melissa Zuasti Vasquez
“We are happy, for the first time five Veracruz youth athletes will represent us at the world level. It is the result of years of work, effort and passion,” said Guzman Arellano.
Path of discipline and achievement
These young people did not arrive by chance. Their trajectory has been forged in municipal, state and regional tournaments, and some of them already know the taste of international victory as Pan American and World Cup medalists.
“The guys have a very high technical level. The coaches have done an exceptional job. This selection is a reflection of the steady development of MMA in the state,” the manager added.
A National Team with blood from Veracruz
Mexico is expected to travel to Abu Dhabi with a delegation of 25 fighters and 10 coaches. The fact that five members come from Veracruz demonstrates the impact of local talent on the national scene.

Guzman Arellano also thanked the Mexican Federation of Mixed Martial Arts for their continued support:
