Following the withdrawal of previously announced main event fighter Anas Azizoun due to illness, COMBATE GLOBAL today announced a new featherweight (145 pounds) main event fight between Kevin “El Prendido” Garcia (10-4) and Alberto “The Promise” Montes (6-1) for Saturday, June 22, live on Univision (11 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT) from Miami.
Montes is a 30-year-old from Caracas, Venezuela and a two-time veteran of COMBATE GLOBAL action. Now residing in Miami, he trains with coach Asim Zaidi, the owner of the Goat Shed Academy. Montes holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do, was last seen in COMBATE GLOBAL action on September 16, 2023, when he submitted American Adam “Kid Solo” Ortiz in the first round at 2:09 of their bout.
In the previously announced women’s atomweight (105 pounds) co-main event, two-time national karate champion Andrea Meneses (5-2) will face undefeated striker Janet Garcia (2-0).
Meneses, 27, of Gavà, Spain, holds a black belt in Kyokushinkai Karate and is a member of Team Uppercut, the Barcelona-based fight camp featured on COMBATE GLOBAL 2022’s ‘Exclusives’ reality competition.
Garcia, 33, of San Francisco, California, is a member of Team AKA, led by trainer and former world kickboxing champion Javier Mendez, who has produced a host of MMA champions. Garcia is undefeated in The Cage, with unanimous decision victories over Mariah Castro and Katie Perez in 2023.
In a previously announced showdown, undefeated Michel “La Furia” Martinez (3-0) of Valencia, Spain will face Rudisel Mora (0-1) of Miami at lightweight (155 pounds).
