At the international level, Reyes won a World Cup title in Italy(1983) and another at the World Championship in Reno(1986). In addition, he was Pan American champion and won five Central American championships. These triumphs demonstrated his dominance in the region. He also won gold medals in the Friendship Tournament (1984), the Challenger Match (1989) and the Allied Armies Spartaquiada (1985 and 1989).
