Alex Pereira
Dana White is willing to help Alex Pereira with his plans to move up to the heavyweight division.
After knocking out Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 and reclaiming the light heavyweight belt, the Brazilian made it clear that he intends to move up a division in pursuit of a third title in the organization — something that, according to the UFC president, will not be a problem to make happen.
During the post-fight press conference following UFC Houston, Dana White highlighted how easy it has been to work with Alex Pereira throughout his career and emphasized that the organization is open to supporting him in any decision he makes about his future, including a potential move to heavyweight.
“He is one of those people who always steps up and does what people need him to do. Whatever he wants to do, we’re going to work with him,” White said.
Even though his intention is to move up to heavyweight to face Jon Jones on a UFC card at the White House, “Poatan” will have to look for another opponent in his new division.
Recently, “Bones” revealed that he is dealing with a chronic hip injury, news that ruled out the possibility of facing the São Paulo striker.
On the other hand, Ciryl Gane is gaining momentum as a potential opponent for Pereira in his heavyweight debut, as Tom Aspinall does not yet have a return date and is recovering from eye surgery.
