Chris “El Guapo” Gutierrez will battle Jean Matsumoto at T-Mobile Arena
Chris “El Guapo” Gutierrez (21-5-2) will be back in The Octagon at UFC 313 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 8, and will take on undefeated Jean Matsumoto (16-0) in a bantamweight (135 pounds/61 kilograms) fight.
The 33-year-old Gutierrez is a Texas native with a strong Muay Thai foundation that has helped him earn nine career knockouts, to date, as well as two regional MMA championships prior to being recruited by the UFC in 2018.
Gutierrez went unbeaten in his first eight UFC bouts, and scored a first round (2:01) knockout on former UFC champion Frankie Edgar with a knee strike at UFC 281 in November 22.
In his last fight on August 10 at a UFC Fight Night event, Gutierrez earned a unanimous decision over Quang Lee.
Matsumato is a 25-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The fight with Gutierrez will be Matsumoto’s third appearance in the UFC.
In his last bout, Matsumoto defeated Brad Katona via unanimous decision on October 19. The event was a UFC Fight Night show.
The main event for UFC 313 has not been announced yet.
