Puerto Rican boxer Oscar Collazo (11-0, 8 KO’s) stopped reigning WBA minimumweight (105 pounds/48 kilograms) champion and previously unbeaten Thammanoon Niyomtrong (25-1, 9 KO’s) in the seventh round of their world championship unification bout at Golden Boy Promotions’ “Latino Night” event on Friday, Nov. 16.
Collazo, a 27-year-old southpaw, came into the fight, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and streamed live on DAZN, as the reigning WBO minimumweight class title holder.
By folding Thailand’s Niyomstrong with a hard right hand to the body, Collazo ended his opponent’s 10-year run, which spanned 16 consecutive fights, as WBA champion.
