(Seville, Spain) – Two of Seville’s top boxers, Rafael Acosta ‘Falito ‘ (11-1, 4 KOs) and Carlos ‘Ratón’ Pérez (20-8-2, 2 KOs)will face each other on November 23rd for the vacant EBU Silver Lightweight title. This fight, to be held in Seville, promises to be a real Andalusian and Spanish boxing party.
Acosta, the current Spanish Lightweight Champion, is coming off the back of his title last November after defeating Antonio Collado. With his inseparable trainer Francisco Suarez Gamiz, he successfully defended his title in May against the difficult Basque fighter Jokin Garcia in Malaga. Now, he has the opportunity to take a leap in his career by contesting this title, which in case of victory would bring him closer to the European absolute championship, currently held by British Sam Noakes.
Initially, Acosta was to face three-time French champion Laid Douadi, but Douadi opted to negotiate a fight against Sam Noakes for the EBU title held by the Briton. This opened the door for Carlos Perez, a former Spanish champion, to take his place. Perez, who unsuccessfully tried to wrest the title from Noakes last December, now has a new opportunity to return to the top ranks of European boxing.
For both boxers, this bout is crucial. A win for Falito would bring him closer to the continental stage, while Ratón Pérez is looking to revive his career with a prestigious belt on the line. Boxing fans throughout Spain are eager to witness this showdown between Sevillians, which promises to be an unforgettable night for the sport.
