From the opening bell, Fundora utilized her height and reach advantage to control the pace, landing precise jabs and combinations that kept Badillo on the defensive.
By the seventh round, a sharp jab from Fundora led to Badillo’s first career knockdown. Badillo signaled she could no longer continue, prompting the referee to halt the contest.
Post-fight, Fundora expressed confidence in her performance, stating, “I knew the stoppage was going to come—it was just about how I wanted to set it up.”
She added, “We train really hard, and I’m more mature now; with age comes maturity.”
At just 22 years old, Fundora’s rapid ascent in boxing draws comparisons to other dominant female champions like Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor.
Her combination of technical skill and physical attributes makes her a formidable presence in the flyweight division.
Looking ahead, Fundora has expressed interest in pursuing titles in other weight classes, indicating a desire to further cement her legacy. “I’m going to go back to the team, and we’ll see what’s next—whether I go down or up in weight—but I’m ready to collect more belts in other divisions!” she remarked.
Fundora’s decisive victory over Badillo not only reinforces her dominance in the flyweight division but also signals her potential to make significant impacts across multiple weight classes in women’s boxing.
