Sebastian Fundora’s highly anticipated bout against Keith Thurman has been delayed after a setback in camp. Hand injury forces Fundora to postpone title defense vs. Thurman, originally scheduled for October 25 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Hand Injury Forces Fundora To Postpone Title Defense Vs. Thurman
Fundora’s manager, Sampson Lewkowicz, confirmed the news to ESPN, explaining that the junior middleweight champion will now aim for a January 2026 return. “Fundora will return in January 2026,” Lewkowicz said.
The entire Premier Boxing Champions on Prime card will also be postponed. The co-main event, featuring O’Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton, will be rescheduled for a later date.
The postponement is a blow to fans who were eager to see Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) defend his WBC title for the third time this year. His dominant wins over Tim Tszyu and Chordale Booker had fueled anticipation for a showdown with the experienced Thurman (36-1, 23 KOs), who continues his pursuit of another world title.
For now, all eyes are on Fundora’s recovery and the potential rescheduling of the fight early next year.
