CES Boxing and Boxlab Promotions ink deal to co-promote Ortiz
Former world championship challenger Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz (17-2-1, 8 KO’s) has been signed to a co-promotional deal between CES Boxing and Boxlab Promotions, and is set to square off in a junior welterweight (140 pounds) contest with Gilberto Espinoza (13-2, 8 KO’s) in Orlando, Fla. on Friday, Nov. 1.
The fight will take place on Boxlab Promotions’ “Night of Champions” card, and will air live on DAZN.
The 28-year-old Ortiz hails from Worcester, Mass. and is looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision defeat in a WBO world 140-pound title fight against reigning champion Teofimo Lopez in Las Vegas on February 8.
Espinoza, meanwhile, will fight for the first time in 2024. The 26-year-old native of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico last saw action on October 28, 2023 when he scored a quick, second round (2:05) TKO on Jorge Pitta Cota.
Prior to the win over Cota, Espinoza had been out of action since 2020.
