Paloma Dojo
The Dominican Republic just witnessed a historic moment for martial arts. This Sunday, the Dominican Martial Arts Hall of Fame officially inducted Paloma Dojo. The ceremony took place at the iconic Pavilion of Dominican Sports within the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo.
A Legacy of Excellence Since 1986
Sensei Severiano Rosa has led Paloma Dojo with passion since its founding in 1986. For nearly four decades, this school has been a pillar of discipline and athletic success in Santiago. The induction recognizes their long and successful trajectory in teaching karate to generations of athletes.
During the emotional event, Gilberto García presented the award to Sensei Rosa. The ceremony celebrated the dojo’s deep impact on the local community and its contribution to the national sport.
Gratitude for the Las Palomas Community
While accepting the honor, an emotional Rosa expressed deep gratitude to the Las Palomas community. He specifically thanked the Las Palomas Abajo Cultural and Sporting Club for trusting him back in 1986.
“I want to thank my family for giving me the time to dedicate myself to the selfless teaching of karate,” Rosa stated. He also highlighted the support of the Santiago Karate Association and the Dominican Karate Federation, led by Professor José Luis Ramírez.
A Win for Dominican Martial Arts
This induction isn’t just for one man; it is a victory for the entire Paloma Dojo family. Rosa described the achievement as a collective merit reached alongside a dedicated group of karate enthusiasts.
The event proved that hard work and community spirit lead to international fame. As Paloma Dojo enters the Hall of Fame, its legacy is now permanently etched into the history of Dominican sports.
