Laredo Kid Reflects on the Tragic Death of Silver King
Laredo Kid reflects on the tragic death of Silver King, a wrestling legend who passed away on May 11, 2019 during a show in London, leaving an indelible mark on the wrestling world. Speaking on Luchando por tus Sueños, a podcast hosted by Latin Lover, Laredo Kid shared his experience of that heartbreaking day, describing Silver King as “someone I deeply admired.”
A Special Night Before the Tragedy
The night before the incident, Laredo and other wrestlers, including El Hijo del Santo, shared a special dinner, enjoying pizza and camaraderie. “It was a night to remember,” Laredo recalled. The next day, however, brought an intense schedule of three consecutive shows. During the second event, concern arose when Silver King’s movements seemed strange. At first, many believed he was selling a punch, but the harsh reality soon became clear.
A Silent Ring
When Silver King collapsed, paramedics from the audience climbed into the ring to try to help him. Despite their efforts, he was unresponsive. Meanwhile, the audience was evacuated, leaving the wrestlers in a state of shock. To make matters worse, British police inspected the wrestlers’ belongings for illegal substances, while Silver King’s body lay covered in the ring.
The Legacy of Silver King Lives
Despite the pain, Laredo Kid reflected on Silver King’s words: he once expressed that, if his time came, he wanted it to be in the ring. “It’s a reminder of how fragile life is and the importance of cherishing every moment,” Laredo shared.
In the wrestling world, the bonds go beyond the ring. “We are family. Only those of us who live this world can understand it,” concluded Laredo, paying tribute to the memory of a true legend.
