At 46 years of age, Manny Pacquiao returns to boxing and will once again seek to win a world title. The Filipino will face World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas, according to Premier Boxing Champions. The fight will be broadcast by Prime Video on pay-per-view.
Manny Pacquiao Returns To Boxing
Pacquiao, the only boxer to win titles in eight different divisions, had not stepped into the ring since August 2021, when he lost to Yordenis Ugas. Since then, he has focused on his political career in the Philippines. Now, with the go-ahead from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, he is preparing for one last shot at glory.
Mario Barrios, 29, was crowned WBC welterweight champion after the departure of Terence Crawford. Since then, he defended his title with a standout performance against Abel Ramos in November 2024.
With a record of 29 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, Barrios represents a real threat to Pacquiao.
Despite the doubts and warnings of figures like Amir Khan, who have pointed out the risks of this comeback, Pacquiao is determined to close his legendary career with a new belt.
The venue for the fight has not yet been confirmed, although options such as the T-Mobile Arena or the MGM Grand Garden Arena are being considered.
Manny Pacquiao’s return has already generated excitement among fans and could become one of the most anticipated events of the year. Will the “Pacman” be able to write a new golden chapter in his career? We will find out on July 19.
