At 46, Manny Pacquiao returns to boxing, aiming for the WBC welterweight title against Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas. This comeback, nearly four years after his last professional bout, is set to be broadcast on PBC’s Prime Video pay-per-view.
Manny Pacquiao Returns To Boxing
Pacquiao, the only boxer to win titles in eight weight classes, last fought in August 2021, losing to Yordenis Ugas. Since then, he focused on his political career in the Philippines. Now, with medical clearance from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, he’s ready to step back into the ring.
Mario Barrios, 29, holds a 29-2-1 record and became the WBC welterweight champion in May 2024 after Terence Crawford vacated the title. Barrios has since defended his title, including a draw against Abel Ramos in November 2024.
While some, like former boxer Amir Khan, warn of Barrios’ danger, Pacquiao is determined to finish his career on a high note. The fight’s venue is yet to be finalized, with options including T-Mobile Arena and MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Pacquiao’s return adds excitement to the boxing world, as fans eagerly await to see if the legend can reclaim glory.
