Mario Bautista (17-3-0) not only won his first main event in the octagon, but he also explained why he considered the fight against Vinicius Oliveira (23-4-0) simpler than he expected.
The MMA Lab fighter submitted his opponent in the second round. Following the victory, he pointed to technical and physical factors that, according to him, made his performance in the fight easier.
In an interview with The Boys in The Back, Bautista explained how he perceived flaws in his opponent, specifically regarding the weight cut and execution speed.
“He looked good, but it’s something very common to see in gyms. He is very slow. That weight cut ended up working against him. I have more experience and I was able to read everything he was doing, which made the fight easier,” Mario stated.
The loss for Oliveira was significant for the Brazilian, who suffered his first defeat in the octagon and saw a major opportunity to climb the bantamweight rankings slip away.”
After the defeat, the Brazilian native of Porto Alegre will need to analyze his strategy, as well as try not to fall into the same error in his next commitment within the organization.
