A Historic Performance on the World Stage
Mexico delivered a powerful statement at the WAKO World Kickboxing Seniors and Masters Championship in Abu Dhabi. The national team earned an impressive total of 13 medals. This performance strengthened Mexico’s rising status in global martial arts. The delegation secured 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 9 bronzes. Each medal reflected discipline, passion, and the relentless work shown on the world tatami.
Leadership That Inspires a Nation
Fernando Granados León, president of FENAKIB and WAKO México, celebrated the team’s achievement. He emphasized that their success goes far deeper than the medal count. He highlighted that stepping onto the podium 13 times represents pride, responsibility, and the evolution of the sport. Moreover, he noted that each tournament adds structure and strength to Mexico’s growing kickboxing community.
Athletes Who Stole the Spotlight
Héctor Solorio captured gold in the Point Fighting -94 kg division with a standout performance. Another gold went to Sergio Osuna in Creative Forms by Teams, alongside Carlos Valencia, forming an exceptional duo. Osuna also added a bronze in Musical Forms.
The silver medals went to Laura Méndez in Point Fighting -65 kg and to Natalia Reveles in Low Kick -48 kg. Both athletes pushed through tough brackets and competed fiercely until the final round.
Valeria Bolaños Gervasi became one of the breakout stars of the event. She earned three bronze medals across Musical and Creative Forms, showcasing Mexico’s depth and consistency on the international stage.
A New Challenge on the Horizon
The team now shifts its focus to the 2025 Pan American Cadets and Juniors Championship in Guatemala. There, Mexico’s young talent aims to build on this momentum. Backed by institutional support from CONADE, the national program continues to grow stronger. As Granados León noted, the mission never stops. While this triumph is celebrated, the next generation is already preparing to chase new victories.
Mexico’s kickboxing future looks brighter than ever.
