Ciudad Juarez – An exciting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) open tournament will take place this Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the iconic Plaza de la Mexicanidad as part of the penultimate weekend of Sport Fest 2024. Registration for the tournament will be open until Thursday, just before the official weigh-in scheduled for Friday, September 20 at 6:00 p.m., at the Ragnarök MMA gym. The registration fee for the tournament is 600 pesos, and interested participants can register at the Municipal Sports Institute. With great expectations, the fighters are eagerly preparing to put their skills to the test in this renowned open event.
Main Event Will Include a Self-Defense Workshop
Before the MMA fights begin, Sport Fest 2024 will offer a special self-defense workshop for women 15 and older. This empowerment session will take place at 5:00 p.m., one hour before the MMA tournament begins. A team of six expert athletes, specialized in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, will lead the workshop, teaching participants practical self-defense techniques.
Attendees will learn how to neutralize attackers and escape dangerous situations, while increasing their confidence in self-defense. The workshop is free, and women of all fitness levels and experience are encouraged to participate. Instructors include leading practitioners Violeta Mendoza, Rubi Gonzalez and Elizabeth Salazar. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and avoid accessories that may hinder their movements during the workshop.

The Plaza de la Mexicanidad will be transformed into a vibrant battlefield starting at 6:00 p.m., where fighters from various disciplines, including MMA, Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu, will face off under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.
