Talagante revives boxing with Noche de Puños tribute to Martín Vargas
Talagante is preparing for an electrifying night of boxing action with the long-awaited Noche de Puños on Saturday, October 5. He embarked on a professional career that saw him compete for a world title four times and finish with an impressive record of 91 wins, including 62 knockouts.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Vargas captivated fans with his relentless fighting spirit. His rise to fame began in 1975, when he knocked out Gonzalo Cruz to claim the South American flyweight title. His reign as regional champion earned him two world title challenges against Miguel Canto in 1977, though he failed in both attempts. Undeterred, Vargas continued to thrill fans, earning the respect and admiration of his country.
Although he never won a world title, Vargas’ name is engraved in the history of Chilean sport as a symbol of perseverance and passion. His legendary career will be celebrated on October 5, when Talagante pays tribute to the man who took Chilean boxing to the world stage.
