Orlando Arispe: Panama Climbs to the Podium in Guayaquil
Panama celebrates a historic achievement in combat sports. Orlando ArispeLance Corporal of the National Naval Air Service (Senan)won the bronze medal in the Pan American Sambo Championship 2025held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Arispe is no stranger to high performance: he is also part of the national wrestling team, jiu-jitsu and competes internationally in mixed martial arts. Panama Climbs to the Podium in Guayaquil!
This result not only highlights his talent, but also places Panama on the map of martial arts at the continental level.
Arispe Shares His Experience and Preparation
From Guayaquil, Arispe explained what it means to compete in sambo:
“We prepared, trained hard for this competition. Sambo combines judo and wrestling techniques. In the fighting part, it is mixed with boxing. It’s practically a mixed martial art.”
He also thanked his institution for its support:
“We not only represent Senan, we represent Panama. And my institution knows that and supports me. When you have to work, you work, but I am also given the flexibility to train and fulfill sports commitments.”
A Message to the New Generations
Arispe encouraged other young Panamanians to join this discipline:
“We are waiting for you here. You just have to train and not lose focus. Just like me, many more can come.”
He said that he is preparing for the next Central American championship and that he has already been invited to the next Pan American Police Championship.
