Puello vs. Martin: Clash for WBC Crown
Puello’s road to greatness
Dominican Alberto Puello (22-0, 10 KOs) captured the 140-pound belt last year with an emphatic victory over Gary Antuanne Russell. Now, training in Las Vegas under the guidance of renowned trainer Ismael Salas, Puello is ready to make a statement in his first title defense.
“I have been waiting for this moment,” stated Puello. “This is my chance to show the world why I am the WBC super lightweight world champion. Sandor Martin is a tough opponent, but I am ready to deliver a performance the fans will never forget. This fight is for my people in the Dominican Republic, I’m going to make them proud.”
Martin’s hunger for glory
Sandor Martin (42-3, 15 KOs) is no stranger to pulling off the upset. The Barcelona native shocked the boxing world in 2021 by outpointing four-division world champion Mikey Garcia. He also took Teofimo Lopez to the limit in 2022, losing in a controversial decision.
Martin comes into this title fight on the strength of two consecutive knockouts in 2023. “This opportunity is the result of years of hard work,” Martin said. “Puello will not be prepared for what I will bring to the ring. That WBC belt will be going home with me to Spain.”
Promise of fireworks
With Puello’s undefeated record and Martin’s experience in pulling off surprises, this showdown promises fireworks. Who will be the king of the super lightweight division? Don’t miss this battle in Brooklyn on March 1!
