Serrano vs. Tellez
The atmosphere in San Juan is electric. Today, the Plaza del Quinto Centenario served as the backdrop for the final face-off between unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano and the undefeated challenger, Reina Tellez presented byMost Valuable Promotions (MVP) It’s Serrano Vs Tellez. This marks the last time the two warriors will speak before they trade punches this Saturday, January 3, at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente.
Champions Ready for Historic Clash
Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs) returns to her island home with a clear mission. During the press conference, she emphasized the unique energy of fighting in Puerto Rico. According to Serrano, the Boricua crowd brings a genuine love that elevates the fight game. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of fighting three-minute rounds, a standard she champions for equality in women’s boxing.
On the other side of the stage, Reina Tellez (13-0-1, 5 KOs) appeared calm and grateful. She described the bout as a “high-risk, high-reward” situation. Although she grew up watching Serrano, Tellez insists she is ready to put in the work. She acknowledged the magnitude of the moment but promised to stick to her game plan against the legend.
Holly Holm and a Stacked Undercard
The excitement extends beyond the main event. Combat sports legend Holly Holm is set to face Stephanie Han. Holm, a former boxing and UFC champion, expressed her desire to conquer a new weight class. She noted that MVP has provided massive opportunities for women to showcase their skills on a global platform.
“I’m a fighter, and I love to fight. I’ve just followed my passion where it’s taken me – boxing for years and then MMA for a couple of years. Seeing the opportunities MVP has brought for women in boxing, being able to come back and having bigger opportunities, it was something that really intrigued me. Having seen these girls have that platform, I thought, ‘I want to come back,’ and be a champion and come back to a sport that was always great when I did it before. Being able to fight in another weight division – I’ve never fought in this weight division in boxing before – but I did for many years in MMA, so it made sense to come back to fight for a belt. That’s my drive, and that’s my passion.” said Holm.
Additionally, the card features 16 Puerto Rican fighters, making it a true celebration of the island’s talent. Fighters like Yankiel Rivera and Krystal Rosado are eager to perform on home soil. MVP co-founders Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian have curated a night that blends legendary status with rising prospects.
A Night of Pride and Legacy
For Serrano, this fight is about more than just a belt; it is about legacy. She reflected on how MVP changed her life financially and professionally. Now, she wants to pay it forward by empowering the next generation of women.
The event promises to be one of the most culturally significant sports moments of 2026 for the island. With the weigh-ins approaching, the talking is nearly done.
“I’m super excited to be here. The last time I fought in Puerto Rico was right here [at Plaza del Tótem]. The ring was right here in the middle, and I got a stoppage. It was an amazing night, and I’m excited to be here again with this amazing card, amazing fighters, and amazing women. You guys are in for a treat Saturday night.” Said Serrano,
