Terence Crawford Retires
The boxing world witnessed the end of a glorious era on Tuesday. Five-division champion Terence Crawford retires from boxing, officially stating there is “nothing else left to prove.” This massive announcement arrives just three months after a historic, record-breaking victory.
In September, Crawford defeated Canelo Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion. Consequently, he became the only boxer in the four-belt era to achieve undisputed status in three different weight classes. It was a masterclass performance that sealed his legacy.
Walking Away on His Own Terms
Crawford confirmed the news directly on social media. He leaves the ring with his head held high and his health intact. “I’m stepping away from competition, not because I’m done fighting but because I’ve won a different kind of battle,” Crawford explained on his YouTube channel.
He emphasized the importance of leaving on his own terms. According to the champion, he gave the sport every scar, every triumph, and every ounce of his heart. Now, at 38 years old, he has finally made peace with the next chapter of his life.
A Flawless 42-0 Legacy
Terence Crawford retires with a perfect 42-0 record, including 31 stunning knockouts. His accolades are simply staggering. Over his career, he held 18 major world championships across five weight classes, ranging from lightweight up to super middleweight.
Furthermore, he topped ESPN’s Top 100 fighters of 2025. He retires as the sport’s undisputed No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter. This status was cemented after he dominated Errol Spence Jr. in 2023 and stopped Julius Indongo in 2017.
From Omaha to Greatness
Fighting out of Omaha, Nebraska, Crawford’s road to glory wasn’t easy. He missed the 2008 Olympic team and initially flew under the radar. However, he kept showing up and proving everyone wrong.
After splitting from Top Rank, he took full control of his career. He defied the odds by brilliantly outboxing the larger Alvarez for a unanimous decision. Despite rumors of a potential Jake Paul fight, Crawford chose a graceful exit. He spent his life chasing greatness, and ultimately, he caught it.
