Martinez’s presidency began in January 2023, after being appointed by Tijuana Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramirez during a closed session. Throughout his administration, he oversaw approximately 40 boxing events, 12 mixed martial arts events and 3 Muay Thai events during 2024 alone. Each event not only showcased exciting bouts but also included championships that drew enthusiastic crowds.
The administration was good and we are leaving happy,” Martinez commented. “In 2024, we had an incredible response from both fighters and fans alike.”

This marked Martinez’s fifth year in a leadership role, either as president or vice president of the commission. His extensive background includes prominent positions as State Delegate of the Federation of Boxing Commissions of the Mexican Republic and previous stints as president of the Boxing Commission.
