Tom Aspinall
Tom Aspinall expressed no surprise following the announcement of Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane on the UFC White House card.
The Brazilian striker will face the Frenchman in the co-main event scheduled for June 14th. Meanwhile, the division’s lineal champion will wait to face the winner of that bout.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Aspinall evaluated the current landscape of the heavyweight division and revealed that he intends to face the winner of the bout between Pereira and Gane, indicating he feels the division is going through a period with few standout fights.
The lineal champion also confirmed that he is awaiting medical clearance to finalize his return to the octagon.
“Who else is going to fight Alex? The heavyweight division is on the decline. There aren’t many big fights to make. Obviously, I want to face the winner. I’m just waiting for the green light from the doctors,” Aspinall explained.
Even as the division’s lineal champion, Tom Aspinall’s days as the belt holder could be numbered.
The Brazilian underwent eye surgery after receiving an accidental eye poke from Ciryl Gane at UFC 321, which resulted in the bout being declared a No Contest.
After treating the injury, the Englishman is unsure when his return to the octagon will be, and he also admitted that there is a possibility he may never compete again.
