Vikingo vs. Americano
The wait is finally over. Lucha libre season kicks off with a bang this Saturday in Mexico City. Lucha Libre Worldwide AAA returns for its first television taping of the new year, and the stakes could not be higher. Two bitter rivals will throw down on YouTube to decide Dominik Mysterio’s next challenger.
High Stakes for The Mega Championship
Hijo del Vikingo and El Grande Americano are ready to settle the score. This Saturday, they fight for the #1 contender status for the AAA Mega Championship. Americano was victorious the last time he rumbled with Vikingo. However, it was hardly a fair fight. It took outside help from Rayo and Bravo Americano, plus a loaded headbutt, to secure the win.
Things have changed since Guerra de Titanes. Vikingo recently defeated Dragon Lee to prove he is AAA’s future. Furthermore, Vikingo is now aided by the giant Omos within the El Ojo faction, managed by Dorian Roldan.
A Complex Dynamic in the Ring
Meanwhile, Americano stands alone. His partnership with “Dirty Dom” as Los Gringos Locos 2.0 appears finished. After losing to Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix, Dominik blamed Americano for the failure and ditched him.
Consequently, this creates a fascinating dynamic. Although it is technically a rudo versus rudo match, the fans surprisingly love Americano. Therefore, predicting a winner is a toss-up. Dominik won the title from Vikingo originally, so a rematch is logical. Yet, an Americano win offers a revenge story against his former partner.
