WBC Inspires Youth at the 16th Pan American Congress
The Pan American University Youth Congress once again stood out in this year’s sports calendar. It celebrated its 16th edition on March 19 and 20 at the Camino Real Hotel. This event was significant for youth development and brought together personalities from various sectors to inspire the leaders of tomorrow. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, along with boxing legends Mariana “Barby” Juarez and Jorge “Travieso” Arce, were the main protagonists of the Congress. In addition, Francisco Mieres, president of the Congress, welcomed hundreds of enthusiastic young people. They were ready to make a difference in their respective fields.
A Day Full of Inspiration and Vision
The Congress was also attended by high-profile figures such as Mario Delgado, head of the Ministry of Public Education, and Citlalí Hernández Mora, Secretary for Women. Both stressed the importance of education and empowerment. However, it was the final panel that left attendees with renewed energy.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman delivered a powerful message to the crowd. He said, “Always take action, make an impact now. You have to work harder than the person next to you. Keep dreaming and fighting for your dreams. And when you achieve all that, keep working.” His words resonated deeply, especially when he spoke about the determination needed to achieve greatness.
Boxing Legends Share Their Wisdom
Mariana “Barby” Juarez, an icon in the ring, shared a reflection with the young people: “Life is very similar to boxing, you fight up and down in the ring.” For his part, Jorge “Travieso” Arce moved the audience with an emotional story. He recalled a promise he made to his father. He vowed to become not just a champion, but a five-time champion.

In a touching gesture, the WBC team, along with humanitarian ambassador Josejas, surprised attendees with caps and t-shirts. These souvenirs will undoubtedly be a source of inspiration for the youth for many years to come.
