WBC Convention Shines in Hamburg
The WBC Convention shines in Hamburg as the global boxing community gathers at the Grand Elysee Hotel for the 62nd edition of the World Boxing Council(WBC/WBC). Thomas Putz, president of the German Boxing Federation, opened the event with praise for the WBC’s commitment to the welfare of boxers. He also emphasized that the convention celebrates the unity and spirit of boxing.
Inspiring Champions
World champion siblings Gabriela and Sebastian Fundora received warm applause as they shared their story. Gabriela recalled how former champion Shawn Porter inspired her at the Acapulco Convention. In addition, both expressed their enthusiasm for their plans for a successful 2025.
For her part, WBC champion Skye Nicolson stressed the importance of overcoming barriers in women’s boxing. Along with Shawn Porter, she stressed that champions have a responsibility to promote peace in the world.
German pride was also present with Tina Rupprecht, WBC/WBC atom champion. She expressed her happiness that the convention was held in her country.
Tribute to the Heroes
The legendary Miguel Cotto presented the award “The Bravest Man in the World” award to Bridger Walker. The honor then went to Abdu Rozik, known for his determination to overcome physical challenges.
Adonis Stevenson, who survived an 18-day coma, was recognized by Badou Jack with a special award. In addition, Billy Dib, 2023 hopeful champion, shared how he beat cancer and paid tribute to Bruno Macho, an undefeated prospect who overcame leukemia.

The convention also paid an emotional tribute to Israel Vazquez, with funds raised for his family. Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC/WBC, shared touching memories of his mother and thanked the boxing community for their support.
Finally, the champions closed the event by singing the WBC anthem, We Are the World, followed by a vibrant flag ceremony.
