A Fighter’s Dream on the Global Stage
Reina Alejandra Vidó Hernández, a dedicated martial artist and Pemex worker from Salamanca, is preparing to represent Mexico at the XFC Xtreme Fighter Champion 2025 in Italy. She earned her ticket after winning the Open Internacional de Ponferrada, Spain, sanctioned by the Federación Internacional de Muay Thai (FIMT). Now, her toughest challenge is not inside the cage—it’s finding the financial support to make the trip. With no backing from government or federal institutions, since her federation is not listed under CONADE, she turns to her community for help.
Six Years of Dedication in MMA
Vidó trains at Predators MMA Salamanca, under coach Ricardo Villalón. She started her journey six years ago and had her first MMA fight just two and a half months after beginning training. Before discovering combat sports, she practiced weightlifting, theater, Hawaiian dance, and swimming. Her athletic path began at 13 in the Gimnasio Lázaro Cárdenas del Sindicato de Pemex, where she first committed to fitness.
Reflecting on her career, she explains: “For me, the greatest experience has been traveling to Europe and facing athletes from other nations. We know their preparation and resources often surpass ours, but as Predator’s Fight Club Salamanca we’ve shown that the Mexican spirit always stands out.”
Pride in Community, Pemex, and Education
Beyond the cage, Vidó works at the Pemex CENDI preschool, where she has served for 16 years. She is admired by the children she teaches, who eagerly follow her competitions and celebrate her victories.
“When I returned from Spain with a medal, the kids told me I had fulfilled a mission. Their support inspires me to keep going,” she shares.
Proudly salmantina and proudly petrolera, Vidó balances her professional life with her athletic career. Every time she competes, she represents not only Salamanca but also the Pemex community that shaped her.
Community Support and Fundraising
To cover travel and competition expenses, Vidó organizes raffles and events. She also offers women’s self-defense classes, seminars, and training sessions. These activities not only strengthen her preparation but also empower women in her community through martial arts. She invites sponsors and local businesses to join her journey by promoting their brands on her platform.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
Vidó remains resilient despite the lack of institutional support. She thanks Dr. Jezlia Gamiño Camarena of Novaria Medik for rehabilitation care and Martha Castro of Sana Nutrición for nutritional guidance. With the backing of her community, she hopes to continue breaking barriers and proudly raise the Mexican flag in Italy.
For those who wish to support, following and contacting her through social media is the best way to get involved. Every contribution brings her closer to making history for Mexican MMA on the world stage.
