Puerto Rican Prospect Looks to Extend Perfect Record as He Continues His Climb Toward World Title Contention
Undefeated featherweight (126 pounds/57 kilograms) prospect Carlos De Leon (8-0, 6 KOs) will attempt to continue his climb through the ranks when he faces Maxwel Montes (13-5-1, 7 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua, in a scheduled 8-round bout on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Caribe Royale Orlando.
The event, promoted by Matchroom Boxing and Boxlab Promotions, will stream live worldwide on DAZN.
While De Leon respects the experience Montes brings into the ring, he expects to dictate the pace and make a statement on fight night.
“Maxwel Montes is a tough veteran who’s been in with good fighters, so I know I have to be prepared for everything.” said De Leon. “I’m taking this fight seriously and I’m going to be at my best.
De Leon believes every fight is another opportunity to prove he belongs among boxing’s elite.
“I’m excited to get back in the ring because this is where all the hard work pays off,” said De Leon. “Every fight is another opportunity to learn, improve, and show that I’m growing as a fighter. De Leon says his focus remains fixed on long-term success rather than outside distractions.
“The attention is great, but I don’t let it change who I am or how I prepare. My mindset is simple, stay disciplined, stay in the gym, and keep getting better every single day. I know what my goals are, and I’m willing to outwork anyone to reach them. Every sacrifice I’m making now is for the bigger picture. I’m hungry to become a world champion, and every fight brings me one step closer.”
Boxlab Promotions President Amaury Piedra believes De Leon is developing into one of the promotion’s most exciting young talents and sees the Montes bout as another important milestone.
