Emiliano “Tony” Gordillo isn’t taking any shortcuts. The Argentine MMA veteran is in Thailand right now, putting the final touches on a grueling fight camp ahead of his next international appearance. Fighting at 84 kilos (185 lbs), Gordillo recently inked a one-fight deal that puts him right back in the global spotlight.
Inside the Phuket Grind
He’s set up shop in Phuket, a global hub for combat sports, training out of one of Asia’s top academies. And he’s not just a visitor—Gordillo earned a spot as a sponsored athlete. That means surviving two to three sessions a day on mats packed with seasoned fighters who have competed in the UFC, ACA, PFL, and ONE Championship.
The Universal Language of the Mat
Being far from his hometown of Catamarca brings obvious hurdles, mostly when trying to communicate with a room full of Russian and international fighters. But the language barrier disappears once the gloves go on. His days are a blur of boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling, capped off with brutal strength and conditioning work to make sure he peaks exactly at the right time.
A Dangerous Test at JCK Kings 016
The payoff happens on September 5, 2026, when he locks horns with Khamid Azimov (also known as Khamzat Ismagilov) at JCK Kings 016. Azimov is a dangerous prospect sitting at 7-1, but Gordillo is bringing a battle-tested 18-8-1 record into the cage. Having gone to war with tough opponents like Ricardo Chavez, Victor de Paula, and Nayib López, the Argentine has seen it all and plans to lean heavily on that cage time against the surging Georgian.
Paving the Way for Catamarca
Making his Asian debut isn’t just about adding another win to his record. Gordillo knows what this means for his home province. By grinding through camps in places like China and Thailand, he’s actively carving out a path for the next wave of local fighters from Catamarca who want to compete on the international stage.
