The Golden Boy promoted “Latino Night” co-main event between Ramirez and Barboza, Jr. will stream live, worldwide on DAZN
Junior welterweight (140 pounds) rivals Jose Ramirez (29-1, 18 KO’s) and Arnold Barboza, Jr. (30-0, 11 KO’s) will finally face off in the “Latino Night” co-main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, the “Latino Night” event will stream live, worldwide on DAZN.
The fight was announced yesterday during a news conference at The Mayan in Los Angeles, where the two opponents faced off for the first time.
“This is a fight I’ve been wanting since 2019 but, for whatever reason, it never happened”, said the 32-year-old, undefeated Barboza, Jr., a Los Angeles native.
“I respect Jose Ramirez as a fighter and person”, continued Barboza, Jr. “I know he’s not scared of anybody, but this is personal. I’m coming with everything”.
Barboza, Jr. indicated that he is doing his camp for the fight in Big Bear, Calif.
The 32-year-old Ramirez, a Fresno, Calif. resident and former, two-time world champion, said “Arnold Barboza said he was chasing me, but I was trying to unify titles and become undisputed.
“I got busy, but now he stands in the way for me to reclaim my titles. It’s time to get it on.”
Ramirez was crowned WBC world champion on September 14, 2018, after earning a unanimous decision over Antonio Orozco at Save Mart Center in Fresno.
He defended his title three times and collected the WBO championship on the way to doing so by defeating Maurice Hooker via sixth round (1:48) TKO in July 2019, but relinquished the WBC belt after losing a unanimous decision to Josh Taylor in Las Vegas on May 22, 20
