AAA Lucha Libre
Live from Leon, AAA Lucha Libre Worldwide threw fans right into the deep end. The October 3 episode didn’t waste time on pleasantries, immediately setting up a massive main event with huge title implications for the brand.
High Stakes and Heavy Threats
El Grande Americano barely spoke about his Mega Championship before the interruptions started. Dominik Mysterio, Omos, and Dorian Roldan crashed the ring, soaking up massive boos. Rey Mysterio quickly came down to defend the champion. After Roldan threatened legal action over Rey’s lack of a referee license, Americano laid down a massive challenge. If Dominik and Omos win a tag match tonight, Dominik gets a title shot.
Chaos Spoils a Brutal Title Fight
We saw a highly serious side of Mr. Iguana during his Latin American Championship bout against La Parka. Dropping the comedy routines, Iguana traded vicious blows and near-falls, surviving a wild top-rope Spanish Fly. Just as they hit stereo clotheslines, the inevitable happened. Los Perros Del Mal rushed the ring, forcing a no-contest. Nino Hamburguesa barely made it down in time to save La Parka’s leg.
A Giant Falls and a Mask is Stolen
The main event tag team match delivered exactly what you would expect. Rey and Dominik opened with bad blood, but the real story was chopping down Omos. Rey and Americano actually pulled it off, trapping Omos in the ropes before Rey hit a double 619, sending the giant crashing through the announce desk. With Omos out, victory seemed guaranteed. Instead, Dominik played dirty, ripping off his father’s mask and clocking Americano to steal the pin.
Looking Ahead to October 24
Standing tall with a stolen mask and the Mega title, Dominik looked right at home as the ultimate villain. He successfully booked his ticket for the October 24 championship match. The sheer heat Dominik brings to this bitter feud makes the upcoming title clash absolutely must-watch television.
