An undefeated champion takes his next step in Europe as Alexis Campos prepares to bring a career largely developed in Colombia to a new stage of international competition.
The Venezuelan fighter enters the eight-man tournament with a 5-0 professional record, with all five victories coming by finish, as well as the distinction of being a welterweight champion within Colombia’s MMA scene.
For Campos, the opportunity is about more than preserving his unbeaten record. It is a chance to test himself against new opposition and see where he stands internationally.
“Now I have the opportunity to face fighters from other countries and really see where my level is. It’s an opportunity I want to make the most of,” Campos told Fajador.
Venezuelan Roots and a Career Developed in Colombia
Campos proudly represents his Venezuelan roots, while Colombia has played a fundamental role in his development and career.
“I’ve trained, competed and grown as a fighter here. Being able to go to Europe carrying both parts of my story with me means a lot,” he explained.
The tournament will unfold across three dates in September, November and December, adding another challenge: staying prepared and performing at a high level over several months.
“I have to take it one fight at a time, adapt to each opponent and manage my preparation and recovery very carefully. The goal is to make it to December as one of the last fighters standing.”
He has More to Show
Wrestling and grappling have been among Campos’ strongest weapons throughout his career, but he believes there are still other dimensions of his game that he has yet to fully showcase.
“So far, I’ve shown a lot of my wrestling and ground game, but I still have much more to show. I want to prove that I can find different ways to finish fights.”
Facing different opponents and styles throughout the tournament could provide him exactly that opportunity.
The UFC Remains the Goal
While the tournament represents an important opportunity, Campos is clear about the larger goal behind his career.
“My main goal is to make it to the UFC. That’s the path I’m working to build.”
A strong run in Europe could open additional doors and help Campos establish himself on a broader international stage.
“If I win this tournament, I think it can open a lot of doors and show that I’m ready to compete at an international level. And while I wait for that opportunity, if other important fights come up in Europe or elsewhere, I’m willing to take them and keep building my career.”
Campos now heads to Europe with an undefeated record, championship credentials from Colombia’s MMA scene and an opportunity to take another meaningful step forward. The immediate goal is to advance through the tournament. The long-term ambition remains unchanged: continuing to build a path toward the UFC.
