Gable Steveson
Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson improved his record to 3–0 in his MMA career. Last night, he defeated the experienced Hugo Lezama in the main event of Mexico Fight League 3 in Monterrey.
Steveson stayed composed while Lezama attempted multiple spinning attacks, even managing to land one of them.
The new MMA prospect quickly found his moment to dominate the Mexican fighter and secured the victory by ground and pound at 3:50 of the first round.
The heavyweight, under the tutelage of former heavyweight champion Jon Jones, continues his pursuit of earning a spot on the UFC card at the White House, scheduled for June.
Also on the card, Matias Molero defeated Ricardo Hurtado by TKO, adding another win to his record—with the added note that all of his victories have come by way of stoppage.
Following the win, “El Papa de los Helados” now has three victories by KO/TKO and two by submission, all five finished in the first round.
In the co-main event, Edgar Escarrega returned to action in the place where his career began and had no trouble quickly submitting Irving Cardona.
In one of the opening bouts on the card, Hector Negroe suffered a brutal leg injury after landing a strike on Renzo Aldave, bringing the fight to an abrupt end.
