Jack Della Maddalena
The main event for UFC Perth is set. Former champion Jack Della Maddalena will face Carlos Prates.
The announcement was made during the UFC Mexico broadcast this Saturday afternoon.
Della Maddalena is coming off a loss of the welterweight belt to Islam Makhachev at UFC 322. The defeat ended an eight-fight winning streak during his run in the Octagon.
Now, he will have the chance to find victory once again in the city that saw him take his first steps in the sport.
Prates will look to extend his current run. After earning his contract on the Contender Series, he won his first four bouts. However, he suffered his first defeat against Ian Machado Garry following a tough battle at UFC Kansas City.
The defeat was not a setback for his morale, as he won his next two fights. In his last bout, he knocked out former champion Leon Edwards at UFC 322.
The Nightmare’ will have the chance to move closer to a title shot if he secures a convincing victory over another former divisional champion.
UFC Perth will take place this coming May 2nd at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
