While negotiating his return to the octagon, Jon Jones could get a new opponent in the UFC.
The former heavyweight champion confirmed that he is in talks with the UFC to be part of the event at the White House scheduled for the month of June.
This coincides with the moment Alex Pereira vacated the light heavyweight belt, increasing speculation of his imminent arrival to the division.
In a Championship Rounds video, Jones confirmed that he is discussing the possibility of being part of the unprecedented event, expressing his excitement at the chance to represent the United States inside the octagon.
The news comes at a time just as ‘Poatan’ is being linked to potential fights against Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane.
‘I am in negotiations with the UFC about that White House thing. I am a proud American; I can’t wait to represent the country once again,’ declared the former champion.
Pereira, former middleweight and light heavyweight champion, vacated the belt he held in recent months; the new champion will be decided in the main event of UFC 327, with Carlos Ulberg facing Jiri Prochazka.
The striker from São Paulo continues training as usual, weighing himself more frequently, increasing the expectation that the UFC will announce his heavyweight debut, where he will seek to capture a third belt.”
In the event he achieves his new goal, Pereira would accomplish an unprecedented feat in the organization; at the moment, it has not been determined what his next commitment in the octagon will be.
